Other attempt to cross to Ukraine

Today looks better, I finally pick up the new petrol pump at the Ktm dealer and hit the road , back to the place I had the breakdown. Stop over in Buzau home town of Marian a new biker friend met in Bucharest the day before. a cool entrepreneur who like to travel as well with his ktm 990
He will invite me next time to do Enduro biking with his friends - in the mountains around - as it looks the last real free aerea for off road riding in Europe
We ll definitely keep in touch.
So far i did not Meet anyone who is able to give me any information about the other side of the Ukrainian border Bucharest is only 300 km from the border and I wonder why no one go there!
by the way the region is very strange
and there is 3 borders on the same zone Romania, moldova and Ukraine.moldova is the poorest country in Europe , and before 2WW was part of Romania , then , as the majority of citizen is russian speaking, the eastern part of Moldova made secession is now a no-go area. The south stretch - locked between the black sea and Romania / Moldova , so called Bessarabia , now belongs to Ukraine !and was formerly Romanian -
What a mess the 2 World war did in that part of the world.
On the road , we can see lot of cars with a large 2ways radio CB antenna ,like we had in western Europe in the 80th!and most cars in the countryside are Dacia , of course. Most of the people living out of cities lives with theirs own production growing veges cattling ,with very small money, with no vehicles but old bicycles and horses- some told me about what Ceaucescu did in the 70/80 s breaking down all the old houses and building massively ugly soviet-style squared apartment blocks everywhere ! Not a lot of old buildings are still there-pity.
But the country is growing and there is a lot to do
I m in the middle of elections with lots of displays everywhere, that gives the landscape and cities a strange taste -the way politicians sell themselves is not very attractive - at least for a westerner- I stayed a bit longer than expected in Romania - but I met really nice welcoming people - I will be back here
