July 18-21 heading Gobi desert

After the desert center, we pass Altai , very strange city where we try to eat in a restaurant ... Better to eat our pasta
Welding again of Alvaro's rack
Camping by night and strong storms with 100 km h winds ..
Cold
19- sandy tracks and terrible corrugations to reach bigger , a small village in the middle of nowhere.
Nice people . Restaurant .
After 100km. Alvaro burns the clutch
20 waiting to repair
With my satellite phone, I arrange a second hand set of disks to be send by air to the next city 200 km away, and with a car doing the 100 km of hard piste to the nearest village - it will take him 6 hours to drive the 100 km
I Ride alone the 80 km to the village and wait for the delivery... The guy arrives 2 am .. Before , the petrol station guy invite me in his yurt to eat strange things , waiting.
I do the 80 km in the dark, definitly losing the track , ending in riverbeds , following the trackback mode of my gps.
Back to the camp 3 am
21 repair of the clutch
And hard piste again

Sandy desert July 15-17

Waked up 6 am by Mongols visitors coming from nowhere on theirs motorbikes .
We follow Deep sand roads , and stop over by a river for a general cleaning and bit of rest.here is really sand riding learning!the Ktm does it very well, even if in deep soft tracks , it is definitely exhausting.
Beautiful desert landscape, mixing rocks and sands.
Nothing about this area in the travel literature I read before coming, absolutely fantastic area.
Camp by a high hill , really windy- fantastic view
On 16 th , another day with deep sand roads, we reach a large river with on the the other side a huge line of high sand dunes - probably up to 300 m high - absolutely beautiful , and nothing again on the maps on in the books or Internet about that .
After repairing the gear selector of Alvaro's bike at the yurt of a cool Mongo family
We camp by the river with a fantastic background.
Probably the best place so far
On 17th we get out the sandy area , cross a relatively large village for supply , and climb up to 3000m to cross a pass
Puncture again of one tire , and stop over in a nice alpine valley , 2500 m, cold night
With visitors coming 10 in a small Hyundai thru the land ...

July 13-14 sands and bumps

First welding of Alvaro's broken baggage rack
We are invited when the work is done by the guy for tea and strange cheese in his yurt.
. First big dunes driving where we struggle to get out of the dead end track crossing a wetland with huge potholes covered by high grass.
My front wheel disapear in a big hole - big pain in my chest for 10 days as the handlebar hurts my chest when falling down.
A family on a motorbike offers us a bunch of cheese.
Nice stop in the mountains in a riverbed with another campfire.
Heading south, crossing 3000 m pass thru alpine landscape with lot of water crossing
, then impossible sandy tracks turning desert to a enormous salty lake,
Then roads turns completely sandy and with terrible corrugations.
We stop as thierry ride over steel wires that goes in his back wheel...
We stay around a nice hill , we have the visit of 2 bikes , one guy looking with a half - binocular , to wild horses !
